Keep the music playing.

I have been the lead creative consultant for Symphony Nova Scotia for the past 20 years, during which time I helped increase subscription sales by over 70% with a calculated combination of interrelated strategies:

  • A rebrand to demystify the orchestra’s presence and connect it to a broader demographic,

  • Use of bright colour with emotive and musician-forward photography to enhance an approachable and emotional connection.

I created a successful endowment campaign with the Symphony’s communications and marketing team, “Listen to the Future”, that raised millions of dollars in support of the orchestra while reinforcing the organizations forward-reaching vision.

In addition to branding and rebranding the organization, I develop a direction for each season, building a concept that I design and execute for all promotional material. Each season’s creative builds on the orchestra’s overall brand while differentiating itself from previous seasons and pushing higher standards of design and engagement and constantly improving the fiscal bottom line.

I take professional and personal pride to see this brand evolve over 40 seasons.

“The sound of colours is so definite that it would be hard to find anyone who would express bright yellow with the bass notes or dark blue with treble.” ~ Kandinsky

Symphony Nova Scotia’s logo is alive and dynamic; expression and emotion are evident through colour and movement.

It injects a vivid modern personality into the previous logo, “keep the music playing,” matching the vibrant and lively contemporary orchestra.

Each season I develop a campaign for the main four segments across five channels (pay-per-click, social, email, content/SEO, and word of mouth). Our design and narrative are consistent across paid and free channels. My role guides the collateral and provides creative direction. We deliver over 120 unique creative assets within a five month period.
